Kailua Park Master Plan Draft Environmental Assessment
The Kailua Park Master Plan Draft Environmental Assessment (DEA) is now available for public review and comment. Click here to download a copy of the DEA.
Notice of DEA availability was published in the August 23, 2010 edition of the Office of Environmental Quality Control (OEQC)’s The Environmental Notice, beginning a 30-day public review period which ends on September 22, 2010. A copy of the DEA may also be downloaded from the OEQC website.
Hard copies of the DEA are available for public review at the OEQC, County Department of Parks and Recreation office, Kailua-Kona Library, Hilo Library, and UH Hilo library.

Kailua Park Master Plan wins 2010 Outstanding Planning Award from the American Planning Association (APA) - Hawaii Chapter.

The APA Awards Committee jury found this plan to be:
"an excellent example of solid planning principles and processes which resulted in an outstanding plan with a strong sense of ownership by the Kona community. The meaningful involvement of stakeholders was extensive and broad-based. The jury noted the creative use of existing features such as the runway to be innovative and resourceful. The plan was assembled in an easy to use, easy to understand way to ensure broad support. This plan is a great example of outstanding planning."
